Capricorn will unveil a one-off 01 Zagato Tutto Rosso at the 2026 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, as the German engineering group moves its mid-engined hypercar programme closer to production.
The car will be shown at Villa d’Este on Saturday May 16, introducing a bespoke customer-commissioned specification for the Capricorn 01 Zagato (you can find out more about the project in our previous coverage here). Tutto Rosso translates as ‘all red’, but in this case it refers to more than exterior paint. Around 95 percent of the car’s visible surfaces are finished in the same red hue, including the body, cockpit, materials and selected components.

The project draws on Zagato-bodied Italian competition machinery of the early 1930s, particularly the all-red endurance cars associated with Alfa Romeo 6C-based models and the Milanese coachbuilder’s lightweight racer work. Capricorn says the idea has been reinterpreted through modern materials and production methods.
The Tutto Rosso is also the third prototype in the 01 Zagato development programme. Although it has been created for a customer, it remains part of Capricorn’s validation process before series production begins in the second half of 2026.

Capricorn manufactures around 85 percent of the 01 Zagato in-house, which allowed its engineering and production teams to develop specific solutions for the Tutto Rosso. These include a red-tinted carbonfibre monocoque, a process complicated by the structural and visual demands of exposed composite materials.

Some areas could not follow the red treatment completely. Capricorn says selected technical components, including the shift gate and pedals, remain in contrasting finishes for functional reasons. The exhaust system also required exceptions because of heat and durability requirements. Inside, the same approach continues with red Connolly leather and Alcantara used throughout the cabin.

Robertino Wild, CEO of Capricorn, said the car was not “driven by styling alone”. He added: “They challenge us to rethink how materials, engineering and aesthetics interact at every level of the car. When a customer approaches us with a vision such as this, it becomes an opportunity to push our own capabilities further, not only in terms of design, but in how we industrialise and validate such an extreme configuration as part of our development programme.”
Engineered and hand-built in Germany, production is limited to 19 coupés. Capricorn says only a small number of build slots remain under consideration for selected customers.
