Large hoard of 300 Chevys heads to auction in Nebraska – the Robinson Collection goes up for grabs

Words: Nathan Chadwick

A large collection of classic GM cars is set to cross the block in Nebraska this autumn. The Robinson Chevrolet Collection will be offered by VanDerBrink Auctions in Fremont on October 3 2026, with approximately 300 vehicles listed for the sale.

The collection was amassed over several decades by enthusiast Tim Robinson, whose interest in Chevrolets is reported to have begun during his youth while working at a Chadron salvage yard that specialised in late-1960s Impalas. That experience helped form a long-running interest in General Motors’ large passenger cars.

Rather than relying solely on local finds, Robinson and his family are reported to have travelled extensively in search of more solid examples. Cars were sourced from several states, including Washington, Louisiana, Texas and California, before being brought back to Nebraska. Wider reporting has put the full collection at around 450 vehicles, although VanDerBrink’s sale listing currently refers to approximately 300 GM classics.

The reason for the dispersal is reported to be development around the Fremont property, which sits around 40 miles northwest of Omaha. With the land needing to be cleared, the cars are now being offered publicly rather than moved elsewhere. VanDerBrink Auctions will handle the live onsite sale, with online bidding also listed. The auction house says more than 250 Impalas will be included, alongside Chevelles, Tri-Fives, pickups and other GM models. The Impala selection is expected to span a wide range of body styles, including coupés, convertibles, four-door saloons and estate cars.

The wider inventory is also expected to include C10 pickups, Corvettes, Chevelles, Caprices and Bel Airs. Many of the vehicles appear likely to be restoration projects, parts cars or rolling shells rather than finished examples. Reported highlights include a 1963 Bel Air two-door post fitted with a 409ci V8, although the full catalogue has yet to be published.
