RM Sotheby’s is to offer a wealth of Formula 1 memorabilia from the likes of Michael Schumacher, Lewis Hamilton, Gilles Villeneuve and Charles Leclerc at the end of July via its online auction portal.

The Champions – Schumacher and F1 Legends sale will feature more than 300 unique pieces of sporting memorabilia, including dozens of gloves, boots, helmets and racing suits – all offered at no reserve – such as a 2005 Michael Schumacher-signed Scuderia Ferrari Schuberth helmet (main picture).

Schumacher highlights from the Ferrari era include signed suits worn respectively to victory at the 1997 Monaco Grand Prix, at the 1998 Argentine Grand Prix and at the 1996 European Grand Prix weekend at the Nürburgring. Further suits include Australia 1997, Germany 1998 and Monaco 1996. There are also three signed suits from Schuey’s Benetton days – two from 1995 and one from 1992.

Other racing drivers from the modern era to be featured in RM Sotheby’s The Champions – Schumacher and F1 Legends sale include Lewis Hamilton (his suit from the 2007 Bahrain Grand Prix pictured above), Charles Leclerc, Sebastian Vettel, Rubens Barrichello, Eddie Irvine and Nico Rosberg, with an array of items ranging from suits and helmets to gloves, boots and visors.

However, there’s also a chance to pick up memorabilia from further back in F1’s history, with Gilles Villeneuve’s 1979 Ferrari helmet plus boots from 1982 being up for grabs, as well as a Jo Siffert helmet from the 1960s plus signed Ayrton Senna gloves and boots.

RM Sotheby’s The Champions – Schumacher and F1 Legends sale includes car parts, too, such as the above 1976 Scuderia Ferrari Formula 1 312T T4 Momo steering wheel. You can also find a signed rear wing end-plate from Ayrton Senna’s 1987 Lotus 99T, the front bodywork from the 1978 Lotus 79 and 1975 Lotus 77, the rear wing from Michele Alboreto’s Ferrari F1/86, and a signed Ferrari F2003-GA cylinder head and exhaust manifold and bodywork from Ayrton Senna’s 1994 Williams. There’s even the option to buy the nose section taken from Michael Schumacher’s crashed Ferrari after his accident in qualifying during the 1999 Monaco Grand Prix.

One of the most fascinating lots in The Champions – Schumacher and F1 Legends sale comes from outside F1 is the above 1988 Cartier Automatic Watch commissioned by Enzo Ferrari, who gifted a series of 50 watches to various drivers and friends of his. This one, number 30 in the series, is engraved with ‘L’Avvocato Gianni Agnelli’ – it’s estimated at between €10k and €20k.

Further interesting watches include Jean Todt’s personal 1993 Girard-Perregaux Automatic Chronograph (€20k-€30k) and a 1996 Omega Speedmaster engraved ‘30.05.1996’ to commemorate Michael Schumacher’s first win for Scuderia Ferrari at the 1996 Spanish Grand Prix (€8k-€12k).

More than 35 pieces of memorabilia from The Champions – Schumacher and F1 Legends sale, ranging from race-worn helmets to wristwatches, will be on display at Gut Kaltenbrunn on Lake Tegernsee throughout the Concours of Elegance Germany weekend (July 25-26, 2025), with the RM Sotheby’s auction itself to be held entirely online. Bidding opens at 10:00am on July 24 and closes at 6:00pm on July 30, 2025.
