Fifty years after its Paris debut, Rétromobile is heading across the Atlantic. The inaugural Rétromobile New York will bring the French show’s mix of collector cars, specialist dealers, restoration expertise and automotive art to Manhattan’s Javits Center on November 19-22, 2026.
Organised by Comexposium in partnership with duPont Registry Group, the event enters an already crowded US collector car calendar. Its challenge is to establish a place alongside the country’s major concours, auctions and historic motoring gatherings while retaining the breadth that distinguishes the Paris show.
“Rétromobile is not a concours d’elegance, a race, a rally or a club meeting, it is a complete automotive ecosystem,” says Rétromobile New York CEO Gérard Neveu. “In the end it becomes the world’s most exciting pop-up garage, bringing together collectors, dealers, manufacturers, restorers, artists and lifestyle brands, all under one roof.”
One of the headline attractions will be a collaboration with CART Department, the automotive-art initiative founded by collector Larry Warsh. Its exhibition promises a suitably unconventional contrast to the polished machinery on the dealers’ stands, exploring the car’s place in contemporary art and popular culture.
The selection includes a 1971 Series III Land Rover decorated by Keith Haring (above), Shepard Fairey’s 1937 Packard 115C Touring Sedan and a BMW incorporating thousands of LEGO bricks by Ai Weiwei. Joining them is the radically modified 2004 Maybach 57 featured in Jay-Z’s ‘Otis’ music video. Further works will represent artists including Jeff Koons, Barbara Kruger, Daniel Arsham and Esther Mahlangu.
“In their visionary hands, vehicles become more than transportation, status symbols or engineering marvels. They become canvases for art and culture,” says Warsh.
The collector car trade will be well represented, with Fiskens, Hyman Ltd, Lukas Hüni, Joe Macari and Girardo & Co. among the confirmed exhibitors. Girardo has announced a Ferrari-focused presentation, taking its established Paris approach to New York after reporting sales of nine of the 11 Ferraris it displayed at the French event earlier this year. The specialist’s New York line-up is yet to be revealed.
Elsewhere, the exhibitor list ranges from Porsche specialist Rennquest and racing-equipment manufacturer Stand 21 to Dutch marque Spyker and Florida’s Revs Institute. Richard Mille is an official partner, while the organisers also promise restoration workshops, live demonstrations and a marketplace for parts, automobilia, art and literature. A detailed programme will be published closer to the show.
Gooding Christie’s will provide another major draw with its inaugural New York auction on November 20-21. Leading the announced consignments is the 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4S NART Spyder delivered new to Steve McQueen, which carries an estimate of $15m-$20m.
Chassis 10453 is the sixth of just ten NART Spyders built and is making its public auction debut. Acquired by its present owner in 1986, it retains its matching-numbers engine and transaxle, original Scaglietti body and distinctive McQueen-era cosmetic alterations.
Other announced entries include a 1965 Ferrari 275 GTB, estimated at $2.25m-$2.5m, and a 1963 Ferrari 250 GT Lusso at $1.4m-$1.6m. A Daytona Spyder, Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster, BMW 507 and Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 Super Sport Spider add further variety. The full online catalogue is due in late October, and show ticket holders will be able to see the auction cars on display.
Rétromobile New York opens from 9:00am to 7:00pm on Thursday to Saturday and from 9:00am to 5:00pm on Sunday, with VIP admission from 8.30am each day.
