Maserati has issued the 100th Certificate of Authenticity through its Maserati Classiche programme, marking a milestone for the brand’s heritage division.
Established in 2021 and based in Modena, Maserati Classiche provides restoration, certification and archival support for historic Maserati vehicles. The Certificate of Authenticity is issued following a detailed assessment of each car’s technical specification, historical documentation and factory records, and it applies to vehicles more than 20 years old as well as selected limited-production models.

The Maserati Classiche certification has been awarded to a Maserati 3500 GT Vignale Convertible prototype, chassis number 101505*. The 3500 GT Vignale Convertible prototype was created by Carrozzeria Vignale under the direction of designer Giovanni Michelotti, and it was first shown at the 1959 Turin Motor Show. A total of five prototypes were built, with the project not originally intended for series production. It later informed the design of the production 3500 GT Vignale Convertible, of which approximately 250 examples were built between 1959 and 1964.
The certified example underwent a recently completed restoration that was started in Modena in 2023, with support from Maserati Classiche. The process included verification of original components and reference to archival material, with the aim of returning the car to its 1959 Turin Motor Show specification.

The 3500 GT Vignale Convertible prototype will be displayed at the inaugural Anantara Concorso Roma, taking place in Italy’s capital on April 16-19. Around 70 historic Italian cars are expected to be shown at the concours. More details on the event can be found here.
