Bertone’s atelier in Roquebrune-sur-Argens on the French Riviera is being expanded into a full coachbuilding facility, extending what previously served as the firm’s design studio and showroom.
Bertone’s atelier expansion follows the launch of the new Runabout, a limited-series production revival of the company’s concept from 1969, which the firm says has accelerated demand for its coachbuilt cars. No timeline or investment figures have been disclosed, but more details are promised as the project progresses.
The site will gain a workshop for vehicle assembly and development, dedicated areas for paintwork, surface and metal finishing along with coachbuilt bodywork, and a trim department for bespoke interiors. Bertone says bringing these departments under one roof will provide tighter quality control and a shorter distance between design and build.
The design house says the site will operate alongside its production and engineering base in Italy. Roquebrune-sur-Argens already houses the firm’s Centro Stile studio, and it hosts private viewings and configuration sessions, its position between Monaco, Cannes and Turin putting it in the heart of the Riviera’s car-collecting community.
Unveiled at Rétromobile 2026, Bertone’s Runabout is limited to just 25 examples at €390,000 plus taxes.
