Corrado Lopresto’s Pinin Farina-bodied Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 SS took home Best of Show at the 2025 staging of the Concorso d’Eleganza Varignana 1705, which took place among the rolling hills above Bologna. The third running of the event took place over the weekend of September 26-28, at the Palazzo di Varignana, with 37 cars taking part.
The winning Alfa Romeo is a one-off originally commissioned by the Sicilian nobleman Giovanni San Giorgio Gualtieri, and is believed to be the first car in history to feature twin headlights.
Meanwhile, the People’s Choice award went to Elad Shraga’s 1955 Ferrari 121 LM (pictured below). After making its mark at the 1000 km of Buenos Aires and claiming victory in the Giro di Sicilia with Piero Taruffi at the wheel, this Lampredi-powered racing car went on to compete in the US with Carroll Shelby, Graham Hill and John Miles at the wheel. One of only four ever built, in addition to the People’s Choice award it took home the Special Prize from the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari di Imola.

Also among the winners were a 1931 Bugatti Type 49 (Vintage Excellence class), a 1968 Lamborghini Miura P400 (Supercar class) and a Fiat 8V (Motori per il Dopoguerra), while a Series IV Lancia Aurelia B20 took home the Raffinatezza Italiana class. The Auto in Divisa class, cherishing service vehicles, went to a 1989 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 Targa that was originally delivered to the Dutch Highway Police.

The Gioielli di Maranello award went to Brandon Wang’s 1967 Ferrari 330 GTC Speciale. One of six built, it was originally commissioned for Pricess de Rethy. The Chairman’s Award, meanwhile, went to Björn Schmidt’s Pinin Farina-bodied Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 SS Cabriolet.

As it has been from the event’s inception in 2023, the location was Palazzo di Varignana. However, the scope of the concours has grown; this year there were special talks organised in collaboration with Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari di Imola and Azimut Capital Management covering subjects such as how classic cars continue to be relevant in modern motor sport, heritage and sustainability via technology, and how to protect the heritage and passion for classics.
