Sydney Harbour Concours 2026 pitches Australia vs England in the ‘Automotive Ashes’

The Sydney Harbour Concours 2026 is to pitch Australia against England in a battle of the ‘automotive Ashes’ as the event celebrates eight years on February 27-March 1, 2026.

The Ashes section of the concours will highlight and celebrate the differences between Aussie and Pom car culture. The line-up includes a 1951 Rolls-Royce Silver Dawn, a 1957 Aston Martin DB2/4 Mark II saloon, a 1968 Austin 1800 Utility, a 1971 Ford XY Falcon GT-HO Phase III, a 1972 Aston Martin DBS V8 and a 1973 Ford XA Falcon GT RPO83 hard-top.

Now in its eighth year, the Sydney Harbour Concours continues to establish itself as a leading concours in the Asia-Pacific region. The 2026 edition will feature a line-up of prominent marques, including Aston Martin, Bentley, Lamborghini, McLaren, Polestar and Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, with additional brands expected to be announced. The brainchild of James Nicholls, the concours will present more than 50 vehicles over eight classes, with several entries expected to make their first public appearance in the Southern Hemisphere.

As in previous years, participants will take part in a curated driving tour prior to the main exhibition weekend, but for the first time the event will be officially opened on the lawns of the Royal Botanic Gardens in front of the Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge on the Thursday evening. This free event will see 30 classic cars, some of which will be in the concours, go on display before they are driven in convoy across ‘the Coathanger’ to Woolwich, to shipped across to Cockatoo Island for the concours d’elegance on Friday morning.

The Interbellum class will include a 1924 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost, a 1930 Rolls-Royce 20/25 by Park Ward, a 1933 Rolls-Royce 20/25 by Freestone & Webb, a 1934 Bugatti Type 57 Graber roadster, a 1936 Delage D6-70 Figoni et Falaschi Milord Cabriolet and a 1937 Rolls-Royce Phantom III by Windovers. The Three-Pointed Star Centenary features a 1954 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL coupé, a 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL coupé, a 1956 Mercedes-Benz 190 SL, a 1957 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL roadster, a 1959 Mercedes-Benz 190 SL, a 1963 Mercedes-Benz 300 SE cabriolet and a 1969 Mercedes-Benz 280 SL.

On a strictly Italian theme, Disegno Italiano includes a 1956 Ferrari 410 Superamerica coupé ‘Superfast’ Prototype by Pinin Farina, a 1960 Aston Martin DB4 GT, a 1962 Lancia Flaminia Zagato Sport, a 1963 Ferrari 250 GTE, a 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB, a 1972 Maserati Bora, and a 1989 Alfa Romeo ES30 SZ. Carrozzeria Touring includes a 1960 Lancia Flaminia GT, a 1962 Alfa Romeo 2600 Touring Spider, a 1963 Lancia Flaminia GTL, a 1964 Lancia Flaminia GTL, a 1966 Aston Martin DB6, a 1970 Aston Martin DB6 and a 1974 Jensen Interceptor MkIII convertible.

Plastic Fantastic features a 1957 Buchanan, a 1958 Chevrolet Corvette C1, a 1964 Studebaker Excalibur Series 1, a 1969 Citroën Mehari, a 1969 McLaren M12 Can-Am M6GT, a 1969 Reliant Scimitar GTE SE5 and a 1974 Bond Bug. Catch My Drift includes a 1971 Toyota Celica GT TA22, a 1983 Toyota Sprinter Trueno, a 1999 Subaru Impreza WRX 22B, a 2002 Honda NSX-R and a 2011 Lexus LFA. Generation Alpha includes a 2013 McLaren MP4-12C Spider, a 2020 McLaren Senna XP, a 2023 Ford GT and a 2024 Porsche 911 Dakar.

In addition to the concours, each day has a theme: Saturday sees the latest hypercars and supercars celebrated, while for Sunday the focus turns to the latest EV developments. Across all three days, there will also be a curated wine and cheese experience, and the Sydney Harbour Concours will also host the Women and Motors? Just Joy exhibition from the Fratelli Cozzi Museum in Italy.
