A Range Rover Convertible custom-built for the Royal Family of Brunei is set to be put up for auction at RM Sotheby’s Arizona sale in January 2026.

Constructed in 1992, this Range Rover Convertible is officially called a Vantagefield Chamois. Founded in 1982 by David Linder and Graham Chalkley, Vantagefield made a name for itself producing bespoke Range Rovers with stretched chassis and convertible roofs, although the coachbuilder did work on other platforms.

This particular Vantagefield is one of two Range Rover Convertibles ordered by the Royal Family of Brunei for their Beverley Hills residence in Los Angeles. The other one was a two-door example by Chris Hahn’s Styling Garage in Hamburg, Germany. CARFAX records show that both vehicles were registered and serviced in Southern California throughout the 1990s, with emissions tests and dates that closely align. The titles for both Vantagefield Range Rovers were also updated in September 1999, indicating a concurrent change in ownership. That other car was sold by RM Sotheby’s earlier this year, and was based on the later P38 platform – it achieved $115,500 (more details here).

Following their 1999 sale, both this Chamois and the related Styling Garage vehicle stayed with one Southern California owner until the current owner acquired it a few years ago. Whereas some Vantagefield Chamois conversions were built with an additional ten inches of rear bodywork, this example maintains the model’s original dimensions and the standard tailgate leading to a generous cargo area. Its fully lined, power-operated white fabric roof folds beneath a matching soft boot when retracted.

This Brunei Range Rover Convertible has remained in California since 1993 and currently has  41,406 miles on the clock. Offered with no reserve, it’s estimated at between $100k and $150k.

It’ll be put up for auction at RM Sotheby’s Arizona sale, which takes place at The Arizona Biltmore on January 23, 2026. More details are available here.
