A 1936 Mercedes-Benz 540K and a 1957 Maserati A6G/54 took the top prizes at the 2025 Hillsborough Concours on June 25, 2025, securing the Best of Show: Elegance and Best of Show: Sport awards respectively.
2025 marked the 69th edition of the California-based event, which stands as the world’s longest continuously running automotive pageant.
Kicking off a memorable weekend of motoring was Friday evening’s annual Start Your Engines launch party, held at an exclusive car club in a historic venue in Burlingame, just south of San Francisco. The following morning, a striking convoy of 90 collector cars set off on the Hillsborough Tour d’Elegance, taking in some of Northern California’s finest driving roads before finishing with lunch in the Bay Area.
More than 200 vintage and classic vehicles were showcased, including special tributes to iconic turbocharged vehicles, 50 years of the Ferrari 308/328, the 90th anniversary of the Volkswagen Beetle and 75 years of the VW Type 2. An impressive 24 concours classes were curated, including two new categories for pre- and post-war Cadillacs.
The Best of Show-winning Maserati was certainly popular with the jury, having also emerged victorious in the Exotics Through 1987 and the Franklin Templeton Investments Perpetual Award for Best Open Post-WWII Car. The stunning 540K, meanwhile, also claimed the CCCA Approved Classics class silverware.
Renowned restorer, racing driver and engineer Bruce Canepa made a popular cameo, sharing insights about how forced induction has revolutionised automotive performance, from top class motor sport to everyday road cars.
Proceeds of the sell-out event were donated to three charitable organisations: Ability Path, The Guardsmen and the Hillsborough Schools Foundation.
