Porsche has introduced the 992 GT3 S/C, a new open-top derivative of the 911 range combining a fully automatic soft-top roof with a six-speed manual transmission and naturally aspirated flat-six engine.
The GT3 S/C is based on a combination of the lightweight-focused Porsche 911 S/T and the current 911 GT3, and is configured as a two-seat convertible. It is the only open-top variant in the current 911 line-up designed as a strict two-seater, recalling the layout of the Porsche 911 Speedster (991) – although unlike that model it is not limited in production.

Power comes from a naturally aspirated 4.0-litre flat-six engine producing 503bhp and 332lb ft of torque. The engine features revised cylinder heads and more aggressive camshafts derived from the 911 GT3 RS, along with flow-optimised individual throttle bodies and updated oil cooling. Performance figures include a 0-62mph time of 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 194mph.
The GT3 S/C is offered exclusively with a short-ratio six-speed manual transmission, matching the gearing used in the 911 S/T and standard GT3 models. As with other GT variants, the ignition is operated via a rotary switch positioned to the left of the steering wheel.

Carbonfibre is used for the bonnet, wings and doors, while carbonfibre anti-roll bars and a shear plate are also carried over from the 911 S/T. Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) are fitted as standard, reducing weight by more than 20kg compared with cast-iron units. Centre-lock wheels measure 20 inches at the front and 21 inches at the rear, and are manufactured from magnesium, reducing rotating mass by approximately 9kg.
Further weight savings are achieved through a lightweight lithium-ion battery and the use of magnesium in the roof structure. Despite the addition of a fully automatic soft-top system, total kerbweight is quoted at 1,497kg, approximately 30kg more than the 991-generation 911 Speedster.

The soft-top roof incorporates magnesium ribs to maintain a coupé-like profile when raised. It can be opened or closed in approximately 12 seconds at speeds of up to 31mph. An electrically operated wind deflector can be deployed at up to 75mph. The chassis configuration mirrors that of the 911 GT3 with Touring Package, including a double-wishbone front axle. Standard tyres measure 255/35 ZR20 at the front and 315/30 ZR21 at the rear.
Externally, the GT3 S/C combines design elements from the 911 S/T, including distinctive wings and doors, with a black windscreen surround. Matrix LED headlamps integrate all front lighting functions, allowing for larger front air intakes and a simplified front-end design. For the first time on a convertible 911, the retractable rear spoiler incorporates a Gurney flap, as seen on the 911 S/T and Touring models. The front splitter and rear diffuser are carried over from the standard GT3.
The interior is configured strictly as a two-seater and incorporates lightweight carpets and door panels with carbonfibre pull handles. Four-way-adjustable Sports Seats Plus are fitted as standard, with optional carbonfibre bucket seats featuring integrated thorax airbags. Upholstery is finished in black leather, including the sun visors and A-pillar trim, with perforated hide seat centres. A digital instrument cluster includes a Track Screen mode displaying key data such as tyre, oil, coolant and fuel information, with shift lights indicating the optimal point to change gear up to the 9000rpm redline.

Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur offers an optional Street Style Package, introducing exterior graphics and bespoke interior finishes including multi-tone leather upholstery and coloured detailing. Additional accessories include a lightweight rear storage box and a bespoke chronograph developed by Porsche Design for owners of the model.
