The Bonhams Bond Street Sale 2025 is only a month away, taking place in the heart of London on December 11. The full list hasn’t been revealed yet, but a plethora of Italian cars from the 1970s and 1980s are among the early announcements – plus a Mercedes-Benz with a former celebrity owner.

We’ll start with the Mercedes-Benz, because it currently leads the Bonhams Bond Street Sale 2025 lot list on pre-sale estimate. The 1928 36/220 S-Type Four-Seat Tourer formerly belonged to two-time Oscar winner Peter Ustinov. He bought the car, which is bodied by Barker, in the 1950s. He often drove it spiritedly between theatre engagements, and he later kept it at his home in Switzerland. After his death, the car passed through private collectors; it’s estimated at between £1.25m and £1.75m.

And so on to the Italians at the Bonhams Bond Street Sale 2025, led on pre-sale estimate by the above 1982 Lamborghini Countach LP400S. It was originally supplied in Italy to a UK customer and registered in Bologna on November 12, 1981 with the temporary Italian registration ‘EE 94194’. The first keeper was Gerald David Pardo of London. Finished in Bianco with red seats and black carpets, it was purchased from Pullicino Classics by the late owner in June 1999, when it cost £56k and had 727km on the clock.

From 2000 to 2019 it was regularly serviced by Ferdi’s Garage, Lytham, Lancashire. A new exhaust was fitted in 2005 and tyres in 2018, and further refurbishment including a starter motor replacement was carried out in 2022. It’s covered just 2700km from new and is estimated at £450k-£550k.

This 1972 De Tomaso Mangusta, which was first registered on January 26, 1972, previously carried the registrations ‘JLB 9K’ and ‘TES 64’. Its first keeper was Michael PD StJ Neilan of London, followed by Sidney Foreman of London in 1974 and John Webster of Bradford in 1975. The car has featured in publications by Richard Nichols and Mayfair magazine. The late owner bought it in 1996 as ‘ABW 84K’ from Michael Parsley of Southampton, for £27k.

Since 1997 the Mangusta has been regularly serviced and maintained by Ferdi’s Garage, with bills including £4600 for an exhaust and bearings in 2010, with last receipt coming from 2020. It’s estimated at between £200k and £250k at the Bonhams Bond Street Sale 2025.

This 1976 Maserati Bora was acquired by the late owner in 1997 for £30k from Mr Grenville Griffiths of Etchingham, who had owned it since 1988. Before that, it was registered to Salma International Engineering Ltd of Bromley, effectively Griffiths. Griffiths restored the car including a repaint from silver to dark metallic blue at a cost of around £35,000. From 1997 to 2018 Ferdi’s Garage maintained and serviced it, with parts from Bill McGrath Maserati. Mileage is now 22,556, and it’s estimated at between £90k and £120k at the Bonhams Bond Street Sale 2025.

This 1982 Maserati Khamsin comes from single ownership lasting 31 years. Finished in Rosso Rubino Metallic with matching trim and fitted luggage, the car was sold new to WD Taylor of Chertsey by Ivor Hill Ltd and first registered on September 13, 1982. It was regularly serviced by Ivor Hill and Bell & Colvill before being sold in 1988 to JB Ball of Nottingham. In 1994 the car was mechanically restored by David Bruzas for previous owner Bruce Owen, who sold it via Pullicino Classics to the late owner later that year.

It was maintained and MoT’d annually, first by Ferdi’s Garage and later by Modern Classics, with a major 2022 bill for clutch replacement and wheel refurbishment costing £3300. In all it’s covered 26,000km, and it’s estimated at between £100k and £140k at the Bonhams Bond Street Sale 2025.

This 1973 Lamborghini Jarama S comes from long-term ownership dating back 45 years. It was acquired by the late owner in May 1980 at 57,000km, having been previously kept by Burmah Castrol via BOTL, Swindon. Purchased for £6600 through dealer Nick Shrigley-Feigl of Knutsford, it was initially registered ‘UCA 291V’. The car remained with the dealer for several years, undergoing a repaint, bodywork repairs, a retrim and new carpets in the early 1980s.

It was registered as ‘VF 25’ in 1982. From 1983, regular maintenance was carried out by Ferdi’s Garage. A new clutch was fitted in 2005, and the most recent work in 2022 included tyres and wheel refurbishment costing £2600. It’s estimated at between £90k and £120k.

This right-hand-drive 1975 Alfa Romeo Montreal has been in the stewardship of the current owner for 41 years. Previously owned by Henry Riley of Holmfirth and then JK Riley of Stocksmoor, Huddersfield, it was purchased by the late owner in July 1984 via Prancing Horse Garages for £7750 with 22,000 miles. The mileage reads 26,792 miles. From 1985 annual maintenance, servicing and MoTs were carried out by Ferdi’s Garage, Lytham.

In 1989 the car underwent a full repaint, rust removal and panel repairs by Car Craft costing £3500. The most recent work in October 2023 included a fuel pump, tyres, wheel refurbishment, dent removal and engine detailing for £6700. It’s estimated at between £60k and £80k.

This 1930 Lancia Dilambda 1st Series Sports Tourer was exported to Melbourne, Australia and sold to Anthony Barber on July 3, 1930 by Lancia agent Shields Motor Company Pty Ltd. The car was then delivered to renowned Melbourne coachbuilder James Flood, who constructed the close-coupled sports tourer body. Barber competed with the Dilambda in multiple hillclimbs during the early 1930s. Registration records show it passed through ten owners before reaching Mr Kim Brownbill, then Mr Ken Shine, from whom the current vendor acquired it in 1985.

The car has seen limited use under the vendor, primarily participating in Lancia Register and VSCC Victoria rallies, and it has been exhibited on several occasions, including at the Melbourne Motorclassica in 2017 and 2024. The car is presently registered in Australia and holds a FIVA Identity Card, making it eligible for the Mille Miglia and other FIVA-sanctioned events. It’s estimated at between £70k and £100k at the Bonhams Bond Street Sale 2025.
