Le Mans Classic organiser Peter Auto has announced that the renowned 24-hour Historic endurance event will no longer be held biennially, but will now take place every year.
Going forward, the event will alternate between two distinct formats: Le Mans Classic Heritage and Le Mans Classic Legend. The former will celebrate the golden age of endurance racing, while the latter will focus on more contemporary Historic competition cars.
Recent editions of the Le Mans Classic have drawn sell-out crowds exceeding 200,000 spectators, and featured more than 700 race cars. Growing demand – particularly for machinery spanning the 1980s to 2010s – prompted Peter Auto to make the event an annual fixture.
Crucially, the new alternating format will allow a broader range of vehicles to participate, while preserving the spirit and success of the original concept.

Another significant announcement is the creation of three new racing series.
Legends of Le Mans is an all-new race series dedicated to LMP1, LMP2 and GT cars that competed during the 2010s. Organised in collaboration with the Automobile Club de l’Ouest, the series aims to return some of the era’s most iconic machinery – such as the Audi R18 TDI, Porsche 919 and Peugeot 908 HDi – to many of the same circuits visited by the World Endurance Championship.
Formerly known as The Historic Racing by Peter Auto, the Le Mans Classic Series will continue to organise eclectic and expansive grids of Historic racing cars. Specifically, the series spans the history of touring and endurance racing from the 1950s through to the 2010s. It will visit some of the world’s most iconic circuits – including Spa-Francorchamps and Imola – and participants will receive priority entry to the Le Mans Classic, provided they race an eligible model.
The GT3 Revival Series is the result of a significant collaboration between Peter Auto director general Marc Ouayoun and the SRO Motorsports Group. Open to GT3 race cars that competed between 2006 and 2013, the series will also race at world-famous venues – with further details to be announced by Ouayoun at the 2025 Spa 24 Hours on June 25-29.
