Goodwood 2026 to bring spirit of Le Mans 1966 to FoS and Revival

Words: Nathan Chadwick

For 2026, the Goodwood Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard, along with the Goodwood Revival, will mark the 60th anniversary of Le Mans 1966, with the reunion of the three Ford GT40 MkIIs that finished first, second and third in that race. For the first time in a decade, the cars driven by Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon, Ken Miles and Denny Hulme, and Ronnie Bucknum and Dick Hutcherson will appear together and be run in public.

The three cars – chassis P/1046, P/1015 and P/1016 – will run on the Goodwood Hill during the Festival of Speed, which this year is themed The Rivals – Epic Racing Duels, reflecting the wider context of the Ford versus Ferrari contest that defined the period.

In September, the same GT40s will reconvene at the Goodwood Revival, where they will be driven on the historic circuit.

Shelby American will also have a formal presence at the Festival of Speed, alongside members of the Shelby family. Team Shelby, the international owners’ and enthusiasts’ organisation, is expected to attend with a group drawn from several countries. During the event, Aaron Shelby will present the Carroll Shelby Spirit Award to the Duke of Richmond on behalf of Carroll Shelby International, recognising his contribution to the automotive industry. Previous recipients of the award include Ken Miles, Peter Brock, Edsel B Ford II, Dan Gurney, Bruce Meyer, Don Prudhomme, Bob Bondurant, Allen Grant, Parnelli Jones and Craig Jackson.

“I am absolutely delighted that the historic 1-2-3 Ford GT40 MkIIs will be reunited at Goodwood this year,” said the Duke of Richmond CBE DL. “The legendary result of Le Mans 1966 is immortalised in motor sport history, and it will be incredibly special to see these three cars run together once again. We are hugely grateful to the Shelby family, Miller Family Automobile Foundation and Rob Kaufman of RK Motors for making this possible.”
