Lamborghini Pregunta concept leads hypercar hero line-up at Broad Arrow’s Zoute 2025 sale

Words: Nathan Chadwick

The one-off Lamborghini Pregunta concept car is among the latest cars announced for Broad Arrow‘s Zoute 2025 auction. The Marc Deschamps-designed car, built on a Diablo base by Heuliez in 1998, is joined by the three-car Allegria Collection, comprising a Bugatti EB110 GT, a Ferrari F40 and a Porsche 959 Komfort. We’ve already brought you a couple of guides to the Broad Arrow Zoute 2025 sale (here and here), but first let’s look at the Lamborghini Pregunta in more detail.

The 1998 Lamborghini Pregunta (estimated at €2,500,000-€3,500,000) is a rare concept created through a collaboration between Lamborghini and the French coachbuilder Carrosserie Heuliez. Commissioned while Lamborghini was under Chrysler ownership, it made its debut at the 1998 Paris Motor Show, only months after Lamborghini had been acquired by the Volkswagen Group alongside Bentley and Bugatti.

Styled by Marc Deschamps, head of design at Heuliez and also responsible for the Lamborghini Jalpa, the Pregunta was based on the Diablo and, as with later Lamborghini designs such as the Reventón of 2007 and the Egoista of 2013, its inspiration came from aviation, in particular the French Dassault Rafale fighter jet. The body was built from carbonfibre, and incorporated large air intakes reminiscent of the Rafale, as well as canopy-like scissor doors, wraparound glass and Matte Grey paint.

The Pregunta’s interior followed the same theme, featuring aviation-style seats upholstered in Azure Blue Alcantara, glass screens, fibre-optic lighting and rear-view cameras. A Formula 1-derived Magneti Marelli digital instrument cluster delivered key information, complemented by an Alpine audio system. Although based on the Diablo, the mechanicals were extensively revised. The car adopted rear-wheel drive and was powered by a 5.7-litre V12 producing 530bhp and 446lb ft of torque, paired with a five-speed manual gearbox. Performance figures included 0-62mph in 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 209mph, while a Quicksilver exhaust amped up the soundtrack.

Retained by Heuliez after the initial buzz, the Pregunta was displayed at international trade shows and promotional events for nearly a decade after its Paris debut, with its final appearance under Heuliez ownership at Rétromobile in 2007. It was sold to a private collector in 2008, after which it took part in various exhibitions, and in 2014 it received a Lamborghini Polo Storico certificate. Lamborghini’s heritage division inspected and serviced the Pregunta again in 2021 before it was placed on display at the Museo Lamborghini in Sant’Agata Bolognese.

Broad Arrow has also announced the three-car Aleggria Collection for its Zoute 2025 auction, headed up by a 1992 Bugatti EB110 GT, one of 85 built. First delivered to Dubai, this example features a non-US-style front end, and it was later registered in the UK and featured in 1998’s The Most Outrageous Jeremy Clarkson Video in the World… Ever! film, wearing the seven-spoke Super Sport-style wheels it currently boasts. It’s estimated at between €1.5m and €1.8m.

There’s also a 1990 Ferrari F40 from the Aleggria Collection, in non-cat, non-adjust specification first sold to a Dr Klaus Berg of Karben, Germany, who happened to own the one-off Porsche 959 Cabriolet auctioned earlier this year. The F40 was later acquired by a Noo Nowvakhet based in Spain, and it had its fuel tank serviced in 2016, plus new clutch, belts and tyres in 2023. It’s estimated at between €3m and €3.2m.

The 1987 Porsche 959 Komfort (bottom left) also hails from The Aleggria Collection, and is one of 34 finished in Graphite Metallic. First delivered to Germany, it was specified with optional Z-Code body-colour wheels, heated front seats with electric height adjustment and an alarm system. Its first owner was a Frank Maser of Bielefeld, Germany, and it made its way to Italy in 1999, changing hands again in 2013 to end up in the stewardship of the owner of Napoli Calcio and SRL Filmauro. It joined the Aleggria Collection 2018. It’s estimated at between €1.7m and €1.9m.

Other hypercar highlights at the Broad Arrow Zoute 2025 auction include a 2007 Lamborghini Murciélago LP 640-4 first ordered by Sheikh Mualla Bin Ahmed Al Mualla in Dubai, a member of the UAE royal family. Finished in Oro Adonis paint with a two-tone brown interior with Tan Q-Citura diamond-pattern quilted leather throughout, including on the roof, seats and centre armrest, it later called Japan home before being serviced by DK Engineering in the UK this year. It’s estimated at between €250k and €300k.
