The one-of-a-kind 2025 Ferrari Daytona SP3 ‘Tailor Made’ sold for a record-breaking $26 million (£19.1m) during RM Sotheby’s Monterey Car Week sale in California, US.
The remarkable hammer price makes the black and Giallo Modena-liveried hypercar the most expensive modern Ferrari ever auctioned, and the 13th most valuable car to cross the block.
Magneto editorial director David Lillywhite witnessed the historic auction first-hand. “A group of us – all knowledgeable in the market – were trying to predict what it would go for. Some said $5m, I said $7.2m,” David revealed. “It started at $5m, leapt straight to $10m and then rose in huge increments to $26m, to the apparent surprise even of the auctioneer Sholto Gilbertson.”

Ferrari originally manufactured 599 Daytona SP3s in the early 2020s as part of the brand’s Icona series of limited-production cars that celebrate the marque’s heritage.
Powered by a mid-mounted 6.5-litre V12 developing 829bhp, all 599 original examples were sold to Ferrari’s most high-profile clients – including its current Formula 1 driver Charles Leclerc – for £1.66m each.
Chassis 599+1 was created as a final one-off example to be auctioned at Monterey Car Week to benefit the Ferrari Foundation charity that supports global educational initiatives.

The Daytona SP3 boasts several unique features, most notably the eye-catching two-toned livery divided down the middle by the Ferrari wordmark. The steering column and dashboard are said to be manufactured from the same carbonfibre used to build Scuderia Ferrari’s SF-25 challenger raced this season by Charles Leclerc and Sir Lewis Hamilton.
Crucially, the Daytona SP3 is widely tipped to be Ferrari’s final mid-engined V12. Tellingly, the new F80 flagship uses a turbocharged V6 hybrid, whereas its predecessor, the LaFerrari, boasted a naturally aspirated V12 with hybrid assist. The Daytona SP3’s powertrain allows it to accelerate from 0-62mph in 2.85 seconds and 0-125mph in just 7.4 seconds.
Early estimates from Hagerty indicate that collector car auctions held across Monterey Car Week achieved between $410m-$420m.
