The 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed kicks off next week, running from July 10-13, and it promises a tantalising programme of events and attractions.

The headline theme of this year’s event, The Winning Formula – Champions and Challengers, is a celebratory one, honouring 75 years of the Formula 1 World Championship, 125 years of both the Gordon Bennett Cup and the Thousand-Mile Trial, and the 100th anniversary of the World Manufacturers’ Championship.

More than 100 F1 cars and eight World Champions, including Alain Prost, Nigel Mansell and Mario Andretti, will be in attendance. The cars on the roster range from dominant icons such as the McLaren MP4/4 to underdog fan-favourites like the Haas VF-16. The main paddock will also be transformed into an F1 Zone dominated by Historic and contemporary race cars and seven of the 20 current teams.

“In many ways, the story of Grand Prix racing is the story of modern motor sport itself,” remarked the Goodwood Festival of Speed’s host the Duke of Richmond. “By gathering the most significant Formula 1 cars ever built, we’re paying tribute to the people and teams who helped define that story.”

The central feature of the 2025 event – 60 years of design and engineering by Professor Gordon Murray CBE – neatly intersects with F1 racing. Murray, of course, designed five Championship-winning F1 cars during his time as a technical director for both Brabham and McLaren Racing.

The iconic sculpture in front of Goodwood House, created each year by Gerry Judah, will showcase Murray’s 60-year career from his 1967 IGM Ford T.1. through to present-day supercars from Gordon Murray Automotive (GMA).

Additionally, GMA will take the opportunity to unveil an all-new road car at the event, while many of the road cars Murray designed will be present in the Supercar Paddock and demonstrated on the Hill.

“For 60 years I have enjoyed the design and engineering challenge of pushing the boundaries of what’s possible – be that in racing or road cars,” he said.

GMA won’t be the only manufacturer launching an exciting new model at the event. Lanzante could well be the star of the show with its new 95-59 – a radical three-seater supercar inspired by the legendary McLaren F1 GTR.

Aston Martin’s Valhalla will make its UK dynamic debut on the Hill, alongside the new DB12 Volante, the DBX S and the Valkyrie Spider. BMW, meanwhile, will launch its new M2 CS, Maserati is set to reveal its new MC25 supercar and Honda will showcase its Prelude e:HEV coupé.

The wild all-electric McMurtry Spéirling will return to the Hill this year, after breaking the record outright in 2022 in the hands of former F1 star Max Chilton. Other highlights include the Red Arrows flypasts on Thursday, Friday and Sunday, as well as daily Balcony Moments for legendary motor sport figures including Alain Prost and Derek Bell.

Car collectors will undoubtedly be drawn to the eclectic lots in Bonhams’ official auction. Hypercars such as the Mercedes-Benz AMG-One and Bugatti Veyron headline this year’s sale, and you can find our full preview here.
