Land Rover Classic is ensuring the legacy of the original Defender lives on with the Land Rover Defender Works V8 Trophy. The special edition car pays homage to the Defender’s expedition history.
The cars are fitted with ‘heritage grilles’, trophy badging and finished in ‘Eastnor yellow’, harking back to the famous Camel Trophy Land Rovers.
Only 25 of these special edition Defenders will be produced and will be available as both 90 and 110 chassis.
Each features a Jaguar 5.0-litre V8 petrol engine, which puts out 400bhp and can launch the Defender to 60mph in just 5.6 seconds. This engine is mated to a ZF eight-speed automatic gearbox.
To deal with the power, Land Rover have uprated the brakes to four-piston calipers and larger discs than previous models.
The Works V8 Trophy also gets a front winch, multi-point expedition cage, roof rack, underbody protection, A-bar, raised air intake, spotlights and mud-terrain tyres.
The interior will feature Recaro sports seats, leather trim and a bespoke Land Rover clock face by Elliot Brown.
Owners of the 25 vehicles will be invited to compete in an exclusive three-day adventure at Eastnor Castle in Herefordshire. This venue is steeped in Land Rover history as the home of the company’s all-terrain training, testing and development. This will be the first time customers drive their cars.
“The Land Rover Defender has always been more than just a vehicle, its engineering capability and suitability for overland expedition and all-terrain competition means it’s renowned with getting away from it all,” says Land Rover Classic director Dan Pink.
“The new Land Rover Trophy will bring this to life for a new generation of adventurers.”
Both 90 and 110 wheelbase Defender Works V8 Trophy derivatives are now available to order, with prices starting from £195,000 for a 90 in the UK.
