Historic Lola moulds put up for grabs in insolvency auction

The historic moulds for some of Lola’s most famous cars have become available, following the liquidation of TW Mouldings. The moulds for Lola racing cars built between the 1960s and 1980s are being auctioned by W&H Peacock, and include those for the Lola Mk1, Lola T70 Mk2 and Lola T70 Mk3 and Mk3B, plus plenty more besides.

TW Mouldings, a glassfibre specialist, bought the complete range of original Lola moulds from Eric Broadley MBE, the founder and chief engineer of Lola Cars. He sold out of the company in 1997, after the Mastercard Lola Formula 1 team programme collapsed in disaster. The moulds were sold in 1990, during Lola’s period of providing cars to customer teams such as Larrousse and BMS Scuderia Italia.

According to an Autosport article from 2022, the Lola name is due to appear in 2024 under new ownership from US-based Brion Till Bechtolsheimer, 12 years after the previous iteration of the company, Lola Cars International, under the ownership of Martin Birrane, went into administration. The precise model moulds include T190, T400, T200, T640/644, T490/492, T850, T330/332, T280/286, T540/580/620, T290/294/296/298, T160/163/160, T212, T70 Mk2, T70 Mk3B and T70 Mk3.
