The 81st edition of the Goodwood Members’ Meeting gets underway on April 13-14, 2024, for an incredible springtime weekend of Historic motor sport and spectacular demonstrations.
Held at the Goodwood Motor Circuit in West Sussex, UK, the 81st Members’ Meeting marks ten years since the event was revived in 2014. Monstrous Can-Am cars, the 60th anniversary of the Ford Mustang, and the Sidecar Shootout are sure to make this year’s event one to remember.
This year’s edition opens on the Saturday morning with on-track parades dedicated to the ‘Governor’s’ cars and Alpine’s latest sports cars. Once the Alpines have returned to the paddock, the sidecars will take to the track for the first practice session of the weekend at 9:30am, ahead of the first-ever Sidecar Shootout at 5:10pm.
Fans of thunderous American V8s will be thrilled by the Mustangs of the Ken Miles Cup to open Saturday afternoon, followed by the deafening Can-Am Celebration
The morning’s on-track activities then continue with practice sessions for the Hailwood Trophy, SF Edge Trophy, Gordon Spice Trophy and Derek Bell Cup. The V12 howl of GMA hypercars will bring the morning’s proceedings to a close at 11:50am, with an on-track demonstration.
Fans of thunderous American V8s will be thrilled by the Mustangs of the Ken Miles Cup, to open Saturday afternoon, followed by the deafening Can-Am Celebration at 1:40pm.
Next up will be practice sessions for the Graham Hill and Surtees Trophies, ahead of an evocative on-track cameo by Niki Lauda’s McLaren MP4/2B to mark the 40th anniversary of the Austrian’s final Formula 1 World Championship title.
Lauda’s McLaren will be followed by the screaming V12 of the 1989 Ferrari 640 F1 car, driven by his compatriot Gerhard Berger at 3:50pm.
Then, at 4:45pm, spectators will be treated to the first race of the weekend, with Part 1 of the Hailwood Trophy race for two- and four-stroke motorcycles. The 5:10pm Sidecar Shootout will be followed by the SF Edge Trophy and Gordon Spice Trophy contests, which will bring Saturday’s on-track action to a close.
Visitors can then party into the night once the Saturday evening festivities get underway at 7:45pm, and a spectacular fireworks demonstration brings the day to a memorable conclusion at 9:45pm.
Sunday’s schedule is jam-packed with wheel-to-wheel racing, with the Parnell Cup for 1935-1953 Grand Prix, Formula 2 and Voiturette cars. Open-wheel action continues with the Derek Bell Cup for historic F3 racers, before the Sidecars return to the track for the Shootout-Knockout session at 11:00am.
This is followed by the final GMA and Can-Am demonstrations, as well as the Ken Miles Cup at 12:55pm. A busy Sunday afternoon continues with the SF Edge, Graham Hill and Grover-Williams Trophies, punctuated by the repeat appearances of Niki Lauda and Gerhard Berger’s F1 cars.
In what promises to be an exciting finale, the Sidecar Shootout starts at 4:55pm. The curtain will come down on the 2024 Members’ Meeting with the Peter Collins Trophy at 5:35pm, followed by the Gordon Spice Sprint at 6:20pm.
