Five McLaren Formula 1 cars spanning more than 30 years of the sport’s history have been put up for sale by UK-based specialist dealer Tom Hartley Jnr. Offered directly from McLaren Racing, the McLaren F1 cars for sale were driven by the likes of Ayrton Senna, Lando Norris and Jenson Button.
The McLaren collection comprise a pair of 1991 MP4/6As, a 2012 MP4/27A, a 2021 MCL35M and a 2023 MCL60. Each of the cars has remained in McLaren’s possession since completing their final competitive outings. All five cars are being offered individually – with prices available upon application – and will be prepared by McLaren Racing technicians prior to handover.

Powered by Honda’s naturally aspirated 3.5-litre V12, the MP4/6 helped McLaren secure the 1991 Constructors’ Championship and Ayrton Senna his third and final drivers’ title. Both examples offered by Tom Hartley Jnr were raced in period by Gerhard Berger, with chassis 04 finishing second behind Senna at the San Marino Grand Prix, where both McLaren drivers lapped the entire field. Chassis 07, meanwhile, claimed second place at the British Grand Prix. Senna also tested both cars.

Bringing the collection into the 21st century is the MP4/27A raced by Jenson Button during the closing stages of the 2012 season. Powered by a naturally aspirated 2.4-litre Mercedes-Benz V8, chassis 01 set the fastest lap at the Indian Grand Prix and finished fourth in Abu Dhabi. The car was also driven by Lewis Hamilton in testing.

Next in the collection is the 2021 MCL35M, raced by reigning World Champion Lando Norris. The British driver took chassis 01 to podium finishes at Imola, Monaco and Monza, where he finished second behind team-mate Daniel Ricciardo to secure McLaren’s first one-two finish since 2010. At Monaco, the car also wore the team’s distinctive Gulf-inspired livery.

The newest car in the collection – the 2023 MCL60 – is described as the most modern Formula 1 machine ever offered for private ownership. As with the 2021 car, chassis 03 was raced exclusively by Norris and secured second-place finishes at the Singapore and Japanese Grands Prix behind Carlos Sainz Jr and Max Verstappen respectively.
After the 2023 season, chassis 03 was used for testing by the likes of Oscar Piastri, Mick Schumacher and Valtteri Bottas. It was also driven by Martin Brundle and Brad Pitt at the Circuit of the Americas in 2025, as part of a Sky Sports F1 feature marking the release of Pitt’s F1: The Movie (below).
“We feel that having them simply sitting in storage is a disservice to what they represent,” said McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown, explaining the decision to sell. “These cars were built to be driven and raced, and we want to see them being used and enjoyed. We believe that is the best way to keep our history alive and our heritage business active.”
The sale follows Tom Hartley Jnr’s handling of Bernie Ecclestone’s collection of 69 historic Grand Prix cars in 2025, which was purchased in full by Mark Mateschitz for an undisclosed sum.
“It is incredibly rare for a collector to have the opportunity to acquire race-driven Grand Prix cars directly from the manufacturer and team that built and campaigned them,” explained Hartley. “These five cars will be offered individually and there is no time pressure whatsoever. Our priority, and McLaren’s, is to find the right homes for them.”
