“Motor sport improves the breed” is an adage Porsche has long embodied – as showcased in a new exhibit at the Audrain Automobile Museum in Newport, Rhode Island, US.

Rennsport: Porsche’s Transition from Race to Road, launched on July 19 and runs through November 9, 2025, exploring how the brand’s competition DNA has shaped its road cars.
The interactive exhibition charts the evolution of Porsche’s motor sport-infused road cars beginning with the 1973 911 Carrera 2.7 RS – which is now regarded as one of the most sought-after and iconic 911s ever created. Created for Group 4 racing, the 2.7 RS is a bona fide homologation car that began a lineage of competition-bred cars that continues to this day via the hardcore GT2 RS and GT3 RS models.

Fittingly, the latest 992-generation GT3 RS will be showcased in the exhibit. This cutting-edge machine will be complemented by great RS models of the past, including a 1972 Porsche 911 Carrera RST, a 2005 Porsche Carrera GT and a 2013 Porsche 991 GT3 Cup ANDIAL Edition, among many others.
A range of children’s karts are being displayed alongside these track-bred machines, headlined by a 2018 Porsche 917/30 Junior Kart and a 2024 Porsche Dakar Children’s Car.
