Following her History degree, Sue spent a year travelling before beginning her magazine career at Haymarket Publishing. During her time at Haymarket, which began on What Car?, she went on to run the advertising departments for several of what was then a large stable of motoring titles. After ten years, Sue left and began what was to become an 11-year stint with Geoff Love and David Lillywhite on Octane. During this time she not only found time to have two children, but also to work with partner Rob Schulp on his expanding portfolio of Flying Space Ltd clients.
Well known in the trade, and with a proven track record of delivering results, Sue was a natural choice for Geoff and David when they launched Magneto. Together with Rob she manages the advertising across much of the Hothouse Media portfolio.
Sue learned to drive later in life, and her first car was a Honda Civic acquired for her by a thrifty MD who had bought the car, along with several others, following a celebrity race at Silverstone. Fresh off the track and raced by professional boxer Barry McGuigan, the Honda came complete with roll cage. Preferring the practicalities of more modern motoring, Sue currently drives a BMW 1 Series M Sport Convertible – but she does miss her John Cooper Works Mini Cooper S that she ran for several years.
